F5 Radar Precipitation Type Color

Post by tbrasel » Wed Dec 06, 2017 6:49 am

Hi Andy -

Is it possible to display the precipitation type color that will visually differentiate between rain, snow, and mixed precipitation on the Nexrad Radar Composite?

Thanks

We had that years ago, but determined that server load in doing that was not worth it... so we moved to a 3rd party radar product, which is what we have now -- that I can not easily modify.

HOWEVER.... I have since re-developed a radar product that we use @ f5weather.com in which I do color type precipitation. You can find it here: http://www.f5weather.com/radar

I suppose it wouldn't be a stretch to use this radar in F5Data. I'll look into the technical aspects of it to make sure it can be done, but I don't think it would be too much of a problem. The one blaring issue that I can see right now is the resolution of this image, but perhaps something could be done about that. In the meantime you can view it at the link above.
