Can't Update

Post by Bob Hartig » Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:01 am

I'm unable to complete installation of the latest version of F5 on my laptop. A window pops up with the following message:

The file ‘C:\\Window\system32\oleaut32.dll’ could not be opened.

I'm running Windows 7 32-bit on my laptop.

I had no problem completing the download on my PC, which uses Windows XP.

I've seen this problem before... I had it myself actually. If I'm not mistaken I just re-ran the installation immediately after getting that error, and the 2nd time it went through ok.

You might also want to make sure you're 'runing as administrator' on the setup EXE file... IE... download the installer to your desktop, right click it and Run As Administrator.

You can also try rebooting to 'unlock' a in use component, which may be causing problems.

I've already been through several downloads and reboots, all with the same results. I'll try your suggestion about "run as administrator." Hopefully that'll be the ticket. I'll let you know.

I did the "run as administrator" thing, but that didn't help. I've also tried troubleshooting and running as XP, but again, no luck.

I'd try uninstalling F5 completely and then reinstalling the new version, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to install it and would wind up SOL.
