The solution for this bug is to just immediately try to run the installer after you get the error. For some strange reason it seems to install just fine the 2nd time.
If you continue to have problems, let me know.

On the installation file itself (assuming you downloaded it to your desktop or some physical location instead of just selecting Run when downloading it) did you try right clicking the setup file and going to properties, setting the Compatibility to Windows XP SP3 and checking Run As Administrator?

Still no go........I am stumped. I have tried tried all the ways you recommended and tried redownloading it fresh. Still the same error. I am not in too big a panic because I have it running on XP, but am hoping to convert over to Win 7 sometime in the near future....after chase season sometime.

It's packaged with the software, but maybe if you manually put it in the system32 directory you could bypass some security that Windows is probably giving you...

That's a zip file, so you need to extract the file out of the zip first, then plop the oleaut32.dll into your windows/system32 directory, then try reinstalling. You may still get an error, but try running the software anyway after installation. If it gives you an option to skip that file during installation -- do that.

it doesn't seem to be that the file is missing. It is in the system 32 folder. What could be an issue is that for whatever reason with Windows 7, I am not the true administrator and I have a computer superfreak on the ship I am on trying to figure out how to crack that. He has gone in and tried to change the settings so that the dll will run, but Win 7 will not let it execute and say that I am not authorized to make the changes to get the file to run. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Have you tried to disable UAC (User Account Controls)? That's the first thing I shut off when I install Windows.... it seems to give you more permissions.

Not sure if it will cause any issues but try installing it outside the program files directory. Make a C:\F5 and install in that location. With the security in 7 and Vista the program folders are causing issues with some programs.

well I am truly stumped. I have tried everything listed here multiple times and I managed to get a DIFFERENT missing dll file as apposed to the original one, but I still cant get it to go in Win7. I may have to try and figure this out after chase season. This is way too good a program not to be able to run, so for now I will have to run XP for my prechase forecasting.

Eric,
Email me at andy @ f5data.com... maybe if you're willing I can remote connect into your computer and I can see what I can do to get it installed from here.
Andy
